Falling In Love, Explained

Two and a half years ago, Vox Product designer Adam Baumgartner created a neat little graphic for his student newspaper explaining what science says happens to us when we fall in love. He based his explainer on a 2007 study by British neurobiologist Semir Zeki that identified which regions of the brain lit up when we are deeply in love and plotted the process of falling in love step by step.

Baumgartner’s “Science of Love” graphic showed that you can actually break down how the body processes romantic love.
